Dear Rewilders, GroundGivers, ForestPatrons and People of Planet Earth.
Welcome to ‘The Canopy’. This edition is our first and we share it with great pride for the journey that we have started at FactoryForest.
FactoryForest grew from a simple gift: Jane Goodall’s Book of Hope, given to me by my mother-in-law, Nans. Hope was more than a book, it was a spark to do something.
Like all of us who are genuinely concerned about the alarming rate of damage to and collapse of the earth’s ecosystems, frustrated by the seeming lack of will by (political) leaders to address the crisis, but who recognise that it starts with us, FactoryForest is our way of actively getting involved. In doing so, we are inspired by the vast community of people and organisations who are already doing this work, many of whom have done so for years, and some of whom are just getting started. We call these incredible people and organisations the Rewilders, the GroundGivers and the ForestPatrons.
● The Rewilders are the People passionately leading and actively working at restoring habitats and nurturing biodiversity.
● The GroundGivers are the Organisations dedicated to protecting and restoring ecosystems, recycling waste, regenerating forests, and tackling climate challenges.
● The ForestPatrons are the Funders and Investors who provide the resources for the Rewilders and the GroundGivers to do the work.
At FactoryForest, we believe in tomorrow, and in our collective power as custodians of Earth. We believe restoration happens through both grand projects and countless small acts. Our mission is simple: to amplify and connect the people, organisations, and partners restoring balance between humanity and nature, and to inspire all of us to join them.
We believe that there is a little or a lot of Rewilder and ForestPatron in all of us, and by extension we can lead in our own ways and we can enable the GroundGivers. Indeed, are we not all connected?
Through blogs, podcasts, and stories, FactoryForest showcases those proving that environmental catastrophe is not inevitable. Here you’ll find inspiration, practical knowledge, and connection, a place where Rewilders, GroundGivers, and ForestPatrons can discover and support one another.
We invite you to navigate through the platform. You will find interesting blogs, links to incredible podcasts, information on funding sources, and details on the GroundGivers and ForestPatrons listed in our early launch phase.

Finally, we feel it would be remiss not to emphasise the urgency of doing whatever we can, as so succinctly stated by Harrison Ford, Vice Chairperson of Conservation International:
